From Midwestern Roots...

Heritage-Crystal Clean began 20 years ago with the development of a service program to collect used lubricating oil for recycling. The used oil was bulked, tested and sold to recyclers, primarily as an industrial fuel. Our business began in Indianapolis but quickly expanded throughout the Midwest.

In the late 1980's, we decided to increase our service offerings, beginning with our Parts Cleaning Service. On a regular basis, our service representatives visited each customer to remove the used solvent from the parts washers we provided them and replaced it with clean, premium material.

Rather than discard the used solvent, we developed an alternative use for the material as an ingredient in a manufacturing process. This innovative approach meant that our customers were not generating hazardous waste, and they enjoyed reduced regulatory burdens and diminished financial liabilities.

Our customers responded enthusiastically to the HCC Parts Cleaner Service and we quickly expanded into new markets with a major growth initiative in 1999.

Our tremendous heritage of innovative service continues even today.
